Private APN Services

Mach Communications offer a private APN service with or without Static IP – with multiple connection options. Your servers and applications can connect to the APN by an IPSEC VPN Tunnel, Ethernet, Frame Relay or on a Point to Point basis.

Point to point can be set up quite quickly. A nominated address is assigned to your server and router, and this can be connected to a retail sim on a 3G modem. This device is used on a 3G service so that it can handle the volume and speed of communicating with all of your units in the field. The field units are on GPRS and also given static IP addresses so that you can push data out to them.

The benefit of point to point is that the traffic is secure and never goes on to a public network, staying completely on GPRS/3G. This lessens complexity in the communications path and is one less point of failure in the system.

An IPSEC VPN service – traffic from your address range is routed along an IPSEC tunnel to your server across the internet. This can be used with or without having point to point set up to a server address. In this way a point to point modem can be set up to act as a back-up in case of an internet or router issue. Most customers use this method as their primary VPN connection.

Direct connection can be ordered via ethernet (available soon) or frame relay.

APNs are available with static or dynamic IP addressing. Static IP is often used in systems where the field unit has to have data pushed out to it.

Mach Communications will assign you an IP address range when you order a Static IP service – for example a 10.x.x.x/ 24 will give you 254 addresses, or a 10.x.x.x/21 will give you 2048 addresses.

The APN for this can be assigned from within our systems by Alliance Partners and the services have to be connected before a static IP address can be assigned.
